43 2024 MANDELA WASHINGTON FELLOWS Since 2014, the Pulte Institute has hosted 247 Mandela Washington Fellows from 40 different countries across sub-Saharan Africa. The 2024 fellows represent 21 countries: Angola Botswana Burkina Faso Burundi Côte D’Ivoire Ghana Kenya Lesotho Malawi Mauritania Mauritius Namibia Nigeria Republic of Congo Rwanda Senegal Tanzania The Gambia Uganda Zimbabwe Zambia The Zielsdorf Family Partnership contributes to improved global development outcomes for communities worldwide by fostering deeper engagement with the private sector. The private sector—independent businesses both domestic and international— is a key investor in global development, with the potential to shape communities worldwide. This presents ethical dilemmas as organizations navigate collaborations in countries with weak governance, threatened by corruption. In 2018, Bob and Fran Zielsdorf established the Zielsdorf Family Partnership for Corporate Engagement at the Pulte Institute. Their support has strengthened the Institute’s corporate partnerships and facilitated collaborations with industry leaders. Through the generosity of the Zielsdorf Family, the Pulte Institute has been able to engage with multiple private sector projects.
