Ending Global Poverty
Strategic Initiative Expands
Pulte Institute Impact
Every human deserves to live fully.
In our work with local communities across more than 70
countries, the Pulte Institute engages in multifaceted
research to end poverty and promote sustainability.
Since 2012, the institute has focused on issues
that threaten the well-being of the human family
and the health of our common home—education,
environmental preservation, migration, global
health, and just governance—establishing ongoing
relationships with partners to develop and implement
policies to create real-world impact.
In January 2023, the University of Notre Dame
announced an institutional commitment to ending
poverty. The Poverty Initiative seeks to establish Notre
Dame as a leading university for poverty-related
research, student formation, policy, and impact. The
Pulte Institute is a vital contributor to this effort.
“Our work honors human dignity and tackles the
systemic causes of poverty,” William J. Pulte Director
Tracy Kijewski-Correa said, crediting the unparalleled
interdisciplinary expertise and research infrastructure
afforded through the Pulte Institute’s collaboration
with lead initiative partner the Wilson-Sheehan Lab
for Economic Opportunties (LEO) as assets uniquely
capable of amplifying the efforts.
“We are lowering the barriers to conducting global
research and pursuing promising paths forward that
only a collective effort can forge,” Kijewski-Correa
added. “We then share that knowledge across countries
so the successes in one nation can become successes
for all.”
