Moreau College Initiative

The Moreau College Initiative (MCI), a partnership 
between Holy Cross College, Notre Dame, and 
the Indiana Department of Correction, offers 
incarcerated men the chance to earn credits 
toward an Associate of Arts degree from Holy 
Cross College, giving participants a chance to 
change their future. 
To date, MCI has conferred 125 associate degrees 
and 40 bachelor’s degrees to inmates.
With a commitment from the Foundation, MCI 
is building an endowment to provide long-term 
sustainability of this initiative. 
Cross International
Uganda
Cross International addresses the critical needs of 
impoverished children, families, and communities. 
The Foundation has worked with them and 
HEED Uganda to improve life in rural Kyakitanga, 
including:
•	
A 20% increase in revenue from corn and 
cassava harvests.
•	
Planting of coffee, pineapple, and other 
crops to enhance future farming profits.
•	
Establishment of two Water and Sanitation 
Management Committees and five 
handwashing stations.
•	
Creation of six Community Leadership 
Teams to drive local initiatives.
•	
Formation of eight Village Savings and 
Loan Associations.
•	
Financial literacy training for 25 adults.
